Romanov sheep farm "Matić" is located in Šid (Serbia), where 100 sheep are producing over 500 lambs/year, with average daily weight gain of 330 grams. The main activity of our farm is the production of elite genetics of improved Romanov sheep (export of semen, embryos and live animals). For more information, please take a detailed look at our site. You won't waste your time. Don't trust anyone, see for yourself. Welcome to the world of Romanov sheep.

The birth of 6 lambs is not rare, in the last 2 years we had 13 such cases (out of 120 sheep)

Introduction

As an introduction, let’s immediately ask a provocative question: Can an IMPROVED ROMANOV sheep be a breed for meat?

As an introduction, let’s immediately ask a provocative question: Can an IMPROVED ROMANOV sheep be a breed for meat?

The IMPROVED ROMANOV sheep is the most productive sheep in terms of meat in the world because:
1. produces up to 300 kg of lamb weight per year (target lamb at slaughter with 45-50 kg body weight);
2. the total daily litter gain is higher (1.3-1.8 kg/day) than in fattening cows/calves, but with lower feed consumption;
3. gives 4-6 lambs per year (up to 11);
4. The best rams gain weight up to 10 kg per month.

IMPROVED ROMANOV sheep

We have stabilized the number of lambs at 3.8 and reduced mortality from 30% to 10%, with further work on “damage control” – reducing mortality. We had sheep that gave 11 lambs in a year. Such high results were achieved by strict selection (selection of only extremely good rams and mothers), reverse crossing, selection of ideal combinations to correct the shortcomings that this breed has (in growth rate, body length, correction of the muscle depth (MLD) and backfat thickness and thighs, which we are still working on, as well to increase milk yield), maximum dedication to nutrition, more intensive vaccination protocol and the use of combinations of 11 bloodlines. We use automatic milk feeders of our production to take care of outnumbered lambs.

IMPROVED ROMANOV SHEEP

Only the best rams from the Czech Republic (winners of fairs and with extreme breeding indexes), and the best-rated mothers were bought. Some rams were paid thousands of euros but did not meet the criteria. We recognized the lines that clearly traced our further work. We have achieved our goal of leaving only animals from a litter of 4 or more lambs in the herd, with at least 30 kg per 100 days of age (and so on for 6 years). Now, individuals appear to reach weights of 48 kg per 100 days. The last shipment of female lambs averaged 35 kg per 100 days, while males weighed 38 kg.

IMPROVED ROMANOV SHEEP

The experience of working with this breed is diametrically opposed (there is no middle ground), depending on which “version” of the sheep you use and how much you are willing to invest: from the “Imperial Sheep” to ridicule by breeders who did not take it seriously or were unprepared for the “fast ride”. This is the Ferrari among sheep and requires special attention in a few key places (which, in essence, is available to everyone). But what it will give you is far above any other race. Compared to most breeds of sheep, it is many times more productive.

Meat is considered a delicacy, with a small depot of fat and a higher collagen content, which is why it is “sweet” and dietary (it is significantly less “lost” when cooked). Combinations with terminal rams can yield up to 20% more meat. All these characteristics have led to this being the fastest-growing breed in the Balkans.
We believe that it is ideal for a new age, young farmers, where 100 sheep can realistically give 400-500 lambs, with increased supervision and moderate work, with a lot of pleasure, anticipation and dynamics. And profit. That is why we wholeheartedly recommend you: the IMPROVED Romanov sheep.
Our diverse gene pool can provide you with long-term cooperation through semen, embryos or live breeding animals.

Romanov sheep farm "Matić"

The Romanov “Matić” sheep farm is located in Šid (Srem). Our farm has a capacity of 150 breeding ewes and 25 breeding rams. The main activity of our farm is the production of elite breeding sheep. Our sheep are imported from the Czech Republic, and through controlled reproduction, we are renewing and expanding the existing herd. In order to participate in the implementation of selection measures and achieve breeding goals, all animals on the farm are officially registered by the authorized breeding organization responsible for this region. Records on genealogy and all prescribed selection measures are carried out in accordance with the Law on Animal Husbandry and all accompanying legal regulations that regulate this area. Therefore, all animals and all breeding stock offered on the market can receive an official certificate of origin (Pedigree).
